Story About Us

Creativity has always run in our family. Our mom worked at craft stores when we were little, so we grew up surrounded by paint, wax, wicks, and endless projects, forever making something out of nothing. Some of our happiest summers were spent in Hawaii, walking down Waikiki and watching artisans hand-carve candles by the water. That mix of warm wax, pineapple, and ocean air still lives in our memories, and looking back, those small moments quietly laid the foundation for everything RXLA would become.

It began with Jocelyn, experimenting with scents and wax blends at her kitchen table, just for the love of it. What started as a hobby slowly turned into a dream, and in 2013 she launched a little Kickstarter to make it real. The campaign was a success, and then, right in the middle of it, she got very sick and couldn't carry it alone. So she asked her sister Jen to step in. Together, side by side, we built what RXLA is today, and we have been doing it as a team ever since.

From the very beginning, we took our candles to markets all over Los Angeles, meeting people face to face and learning, in real time, what they truly loved. More than 13 years later, that is still how we do it. Every scent in our collection has been shaped by thousands of honest reactions along the way. If something doesn't resonate, we let it go, even the ones we personally adore. So what remains is a collection that has genuinely earned its place, one candle, one market, one "oh wow, what is that?" at a time.

Today, RXLA is still small, still handmade, and still made with a lot of intention, now with a little team here in Atlanta, though our heart will always carry a bit of Los Angeles in it. We pour everything by hand, in small batches, with really good ingredients and a lot of care.
